Project Description
Plant Today, Taste Tomorrow
The Rotary Club of Mount Everest Lalitpur (RCMEL) successfully conducted a Fruit Tree Plantation Program at Shree Gupteshwor Secondary School, Dhunge, Nallu, Konjyosom Rural Municipality, promoting environmental conservation, sustainability, and practical learning among students.
The program was conducted with Ace the Himalaya as the Event Partner and supported by Gautam Nursery, I’m the Gardener, Green Valley Green Nepal, Nepal Adarsha Nirman Company, Kathmandu Engineering College (KEC), and New-Initiatives.
A total of 69 participants, including more than 20 school students, actively participated and planted 127 fruit saplings within the school premises. The school, which serves more than 150 students, is expected to benefit from a greener environment, increased environmental awareness, and future access to fresh fruits.
The total project budget was approximately NPR 32,000/-. To ensure long-term sustainability, RCMEL requested the Principal and School Eco Club representatives to take responsibility for nurturing and protecting the plants. Saplings will be allocated to specific groups of students, encouraging ownership and hands-on learning.
RCMEL will conduct half-yearly or annual monitoring visits to observe the progress of the plantation. Students or groups demonstrating outstanding commitment to nurturing the plants, including those growing the best-performing fruit plants, will be recognized and awarded by the Club.
This initiative goes beyond planting trees—it creates a shared responsibility among students and the school community to protect nature and nurture a greener future.
