Tree Plantation, RCC and Interact Club Formation at Janata Namuna Secondary School, Khajura
A tree plantation program was successfully organized at the premises of Janata Namuna Secondary School, Khajura, by the Rotary Club of Central Banke in collaboration with the Janata Namuna Secondary School Alumni Society.
The program was held under the chief hospitality of Mrs. Sujata Kharel, Chairperson of the School Management Committee. A total of 480 saplings of various species were planted on the school premises.
The program was attended by School Principal Mahendra Khatri, Alumni Society President Jhabialal Sharma, Vice President Er. Bibek Lamichhane, President of Rotary Club of Central Banke Rtn. Ishwori Jung Malla, senior journalist Jhalak Gaire, Alumni Society Advisor Bhuwan Gaire, President of the School Parents' Association Shailendra Khatri environmental campaigner Hemant Raj Kafle, Chairman of Nepalgunj Marathon T.S. Thakuri, Secretary of the Nepalgunj Customs Agents Association Prem Chaulagain, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police at Dhanauli Police Post Tek Bahadur Tharu, Nepalgunj Regional Project Coordinator of Rotary Club of Central Banke Rtn. Saroj Regmi, Rotary member Rtn. Chakra Giri, along with teachers, staff, students and parents. Around 50 participants took part in the program.
The tree plantation campaign was organized in accordance with the annual goals of District Governor Vishnu Bahadur Karki of Rotary International District 3292, Nepal-Bhutan, with the objective of planting 100,000 trees across Nepal and Bhutan during Tree Plantation Week 2026, from July 26 to August 1.
On the occasion, it was also decided to establish a Rotary Community Corps (RCC) in collaboration with the Janata Namuna Secondary School Alumni Society. The RCC will be formed under the mentorship and guidance of the Rotary Club of Central Banke. It is expected to play a leading role in taking Rotary's community service activities to the grassroots level and strengthening community participation in social and development initiatives.
Similarly, the Rotary Club of Central Banke has decided to establish a Rotary Interact Club at the school to engage students in leadership development, community service, volunteerism and international Rotary activities.
According to Rotary Club of Central Banke President for Rotary Year 2026–27, Rtn. Ishwori Jung Malla, the Interact Club will provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and participate in meaningful community service activities.
The initiatives of tree plantation, RCC formation and Interact Club formation are expected to strengthen collaboration among the school, alumni, Rotary Club and the wider community while promoting environmental conservation, leadership development, volunteerism and a culture of social service among students and community members.
