Project Description

Rotary International District 3292’s nationwide tree plantation program aims to plant 100,000 saplings across Nepal from July 25–26. Mobilizing over 150 Rotary clubs and local communities, the initiative focuses on environmental conservation, climate resilience, and carbon mitigation. By planting native and fruit-bearing trees on public lands and partnering with local groups for long-term care, the project delivers immediate ecosystem restoration and scalable community climate action. Club planted 65 local fruit and other trees during the event.
Sustainability Initiatives & Project Financing
• Plant Care & Fencing: To ensure the sustainability of the plantation, all plants were protected with bamboo fencing. Additionally, the club requested school management to assign one student to mentor each plant. Students who successfully maintain their assigned plant for two consecutive years will receive an award. A formal report will be submitted by the Service Committee Chair upon the finalization of all financial tasks.
• Funding & Sponsorship: Participating members contributed Rs 500 each, generating an initial total of Rs 7,000. President Rtn. Rupak Das Tamrakar provided a 100% matching grant, raising the collective total to Rs 14,000. Any remaining balance required for the project will be funded through the Sunshine Fund.
