STAR Project –Graduation of the 3rd Batch Mushroom Farming Training for Persons with Disabilities

As part of the STAR Project for the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), supported by the Rotary Club of Patan through its KPAD Fund in partnership with The Rose International Fund for Children (TRIFC) and Rtn. Santa Kumar Shrestha, and implemented by the Ability Development Society of Nepal (ADSoN), the third batch of vocational skills training was successfully completed in Devghat Rural Municipality, Tanahun District.

Following the successful completion of the first two training batches, a 10-day day-scholar training on Mushroom Cultivation was conducted from 29 June to 8 July 2026, responding to the livelihood needs and growing interest of local Persons with Disabilities.

A total of 15 participants successfully completed the training, making it the largest batch under the STAR Project to date. The training combined theoretical and practical learning in mushroom cultivation, including spawn preparation, bag making, crop management, harvesting and marketing.

The successful completion of the third batch marks another important milestone in the STAR Project's objective of empowering Persons with Disabilities through practical, market-oriented vocational skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The broader STAR initiative also includes the development of an Organic Farming and Skills Training Center for PwDs in Bandipur, Tanahun, where Rtn. Santa Kumar Shrestha of the Rotary Club of Patan has committed approximately 28–30 ropanis of land, free of cost for 10 years, together with infrastructure support for the project.
