Academic & Professional Background

Rtn. Prof. I.P Dhakal, District Governor Nominee is an accomplished academician with over 38 years of experience across veterinary medicine, higher education, and public service. Prof. Dhakal holds a PhD in Veterinary Medicine from Rakuno Gakuen University, Japan, and has published over 50 research articles and two textbooks. As Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Nepal (2015–2019), he established seven constituent colleges and forged partnerships with over 30 international universities. He has also served as Chairman of several private enterprises and as Vice President of the Nepal Veterinary Council (2004–2008).

Community Initiatives

  • Established the Shanti-Ishwari Scholarship Award (2025): Rs. 25,000/year supporting the top 5 students of Jakadimai Basic School Rs. 5000 per student for five years.
  • Has supported scholarships for young women, Montessori classroom construction, public education campaigns, etc.

Rtn. Prof. Dhakal is married to Shanti Dhakal; two daughters: Sophia and Isha; and two grandchildren: Soham and Arisa. He has travelled to 24 countries.
